[Church / Bible Verses] Who wrote the Book of Genesis?
Q:Who wrote the Book of Genesis?
A:The first five books of the Bible are called "the books of Moses" (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy). It is believed that Moses wrote and compiled these writings (along with his scribe and protégé, Joshua) during the 40 years that the people of Israel wandered the wilderness. The events of Genesis were, no doubt passed along through Moses' ancestors and given by God Himself as He met with Moses. Acts 15:1 underscores Moses' writing as it refers to circumcision commanded by God in Genesis: "Some men came down from Judea to Antioch and were teaching the brothers: 'Unless you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved.'"
