Q:Were Mary and Joseph married by the journey to Bethlehem? One of my sons was Joseph in a Concordia Christmas pageant. He was to call Mary "wife." He asked if this was correct. We asked the Concordia pastors at the time and other LCMS pastors who are family and friends. The consensus was, yes Mary was still a virgin but Joseph wasn't one to wait around when God told him to do something. The ceremony happened. We were disappointed last Christmas to hear otherwise from the pulpit.
