A:Change in life means change in general, and for the most part - change is hard. Why? One reason could be that change means venturing into the unfamiliar, which can lead to uncertainty. Uncertainty can then lead to doubt, worry or anxious moments - not feelings we'd naturally choose if given the chance. (For help with these feelings look up Matthew 6:25-34 and Philippians 4:6)
Something that can be reassuring is that changes in life have always been difficult for people. Looking to the Bible we see:
- God had to encourage Joshua as he transitioned into leadership after the death of Moses (Joshua chapter 1).
- The disciples where troubled by the changes that would occur as Jesus suffered and died, no longer being with them as He had been (John 13:31 - 14:31).
- Jesus himself was in anguish as He considered how His life was about to change as He was moments away from being betrayed, only to suffer and die by crucifixion (Luke 22:39-46)
When it comes to a new job, moving into a new community of people, or even sitting in a new seat at worship is to remember that amidst all the change God remains the same. God's Word says:
- "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." Hebrews 13:8
- "I the LORD do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed." Malachi 3:6
