Q:My question is regarding the Lutheran (Missouri Synod) exclusion of women to the clergy and other positions (Elders). I know I may be influenced by "the world" that says diversity is good and constructive and I believe that it is. Can someone explain why women cannot be Clergy or even hold positions in the church (other than day care center leaders, etc.)? I have asked this question of long time Lutherans and they have answers like well women are equal but have skills in different positions. That, in my opinion is a cop out. I know in the old days women even sat in a different area of the church during services. Will they some day be required to wear a burka at CLC?
